Outreach and Activities

1. Lecture offered to Ecological Society of Paraiso, Barahona, Dominican Republic [Sociedad Ecológica de Paraiso (SOEPA)] at the SOEPA ecoturism facility at Cachote. Lecutre was divided in three parts and each PI (Dimaris Acosta, Inés Sastre-De Jesús and Carlos Santos) talked about the organisms they study and the ecological role. July 2007.

2. "The terrestrial mollusks of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic: new opportunities for future research." seminar given by C. J. Santos to undergraduates of βββ Society of UPRM Biology Department, Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. September 17th, 2008.

3. Lecture entitled “Tropical Bryology at University of Puerto Rico: Florisitcs, Ecology and Conservation” by Sastre-De Jesús, I. and Pérez Pérez, M offered to “Biology Department, Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), Dominican Republic.  Lecture offered to botany students and professors of UASD.  In this presentation we showed partial results on our floristic analysis of the mosses and liverworts of the Dominican Republic. November 3, 2008.
